About Climbing the Family Tree
I have discovered that it is not easy putting together a family tree even
if there are living relatives to get information from. So, I would like to
sincerely thank everyone who has answered my e-mails, calls and snail mail
letters with information to help my pursuit in climbing the family tree.
While doing this tree I started with my children and worked my way out from
them. The information contained on this site has been compiled from many
sources, a lot of which are undocumented and may contain errors. Please verify
before assuming it is completely accurate. When I began doing the family tree
I didn't write sources down, it hasn't been until recently that I realized why
you may need to know who told you this story or who gave you this information.
I have gotten quite a bit of written source information on the McClain side
(Certificates, Census records, cemetery transcripts, obits etc) but it is a
slow going process. Any corrections, additions and/or leads are greatly
appreciated.
I have to thank Denise Crawford. She has given me good advice on how to get
started in genealogy and I have obtained a lot of this information from her
tree on Rootsweb. I also have to thank Mary Blakely Nee: McClain, she gave me
SO many papers on the McClain family that I can never repay her kindness.
Thank you for taking the time to view the tree.
